Volunteer Opportunities

If you are interested in volunteering in any capacity for our parish, even in a way that is not listed here, please email Jenna Violi at jvioli@mdpparish.com or call the parish office and ask for Jenna at 610-265-4178.

Transportation

We are in need of volunteers to help transport some of our parishioners to appointments, often during the day.  This would be a great service opportunity for those that have a flexible work-from-home schedule right now, or for college students that are home for the summer or doing remote learning.

Pre-Jordan Teachers

We are looking for a few MDP couples to volunteer to teach Pre-Jordan classes a few times a year on a rotating basis with other teaching couples.  These classes prepare parents for the Baptism of their first child.  Teaching materials and training will be provided.

Care Ministers

Volunteers help visit our homebound parishioners, paying periodic friendly visits.  In December, parishioners bake homemade cookies, which are packaged by our care ministers and delivered to the homebound.  Care ministers also assist in the Mass with the Anointing of the Sick, helping to welcome and register those in attendance.  Unfortunately many of these tasks have been suspended due to COVID-19, but please reach out if you would like to participate in the future.

Cleaners

During these times of COVID-19, we are especially grateful for the volunteers who are giving their time to sanitize the Church after Masses.   We can still use all the help we can get in this area, especially on the weekends after Masses.

St. John’s Hospice Casseroles

We support the work of St. John’s Hospice with the homeless in Philadelphia through our casserole program.   Volunteers make meals which St. John’s then uses to feed those in need.  Trays and suggested recipes are located in the church vestibule.

Servants of the Blessed Sacrament

We are in need of people to spend time with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament on Tuesdays during Adoration so that Jesus is never alone in the Church.  If you can give an hour of your time on Tuesdays, or you would like to be a substitute servant, it would be greatly appreciated.

Parish Hospitality Committee

The Parish Hospitality Committee helps facilitate fellowship after Sunday Mass once a month, as well as the receptions after our annual Remembrance Mass and Anointing Mass.
