How can I make my payments? We have included a three-year pledge chart (see the inside back cover) to help you identify a pledge level that you can reach. You will see that you can choose to make your pledge in a number of ways. The parish office will send out reminders before each payment is due that will include a balance.
What happens if I cannot pay off my pledge? A pledge to the campaign is a faith promise; it is not legally binding. Mother of Divine Providence Parish is dependent on the generosity and ability of its parishioners and community friends to complete this project. While we pray that you will not experience any financial challenges, should your financial situation change, we will work with you to accommodate any unforeseen personal situations.
How are the building expansions and renovations going to meet the pastoral needs of our ever growing parish? First of all, the improvements that come from this project will allow all of our parishioners to better participate in the life of our parish. A significant amount of the work to be done is for the purpose of creating handicapped accessibility, and complying with safety and health codes. Also, more meeting space will enable us to enhance existing programs and services, and to initiate new ones (particularly in ministering to our youth).
There were more projects on the original list. Are we going to be able to accomplish them all with this campaign? As part of the 20 month long process of identifying our facility needs, projects were listed in priority order. The projects to be accomplished through this campaign are at the top of our list. Certainly, if we surpass the projected goals, further projects which were initially identified will be reasonably addressed.
Will the new Parish Center give the parish opportunities to generate revenue from parishioners or those from outside our community? The existence of improved and expanded facilities surely will afford us opportunities we presently do not have. Specific uses for the new spaces will be determined carefully once they become a reality.
Why are we making an investment into our school building, given the fact that a number of parish schools have closed? No doubt, the newly-created Parish Center will enhance greatly the school facility since it will be literally connected to the school building. However, the Parish Center is to serve primarily as a center for parish activities --- thus its name. At the same time, it must be stated that Monsignor Conway is strongly committed to the mission of Catholic education through the full-time Catholic school program. He believes that the future of our school is bright. Remember, too, that our school building serves many more of our children through our religious education program for those enrolled in public school, our Vacation Bible School (which we hope to expand with improved facilities), and our CYO athletic program for elementary and high school aged students.
Is the parish going to have to go into debt to get all of our projects accomplished? No. Our strategy is to initiate the identified projects as we can afford them. This is doable, since the slated projects are independent of one another.
How much of the money we raise for the Building on the Foundation capital campaign will go to the Archdiocese? None. All monies collected and earmarked for our capital projects will be placed in a separate parish account. This fund will not be assessed by the Archdiocese. Therefore, all of your contributions to this campaign will
be used solely for the projects that have been identified.
I already give in the weekly collections. Why should I support the campaign? While your regular and generous contributions are very much appreciated, they are needed every week for the operating expenses. The campaign supports capital improvements and, therefore, is separate from the weekly collections. |
