"That all may have a more personal relationship with Jesus, we will teach the saving message of Christ and thereby understand the joy of knowing, loving and serving God through a study of the Scriptures, reception of the Sacraments, and by good example." (MDP Parish Mission Statement)

The Religious Education Program strives to fulfill this educational mission by teaching the Good New of Jesus Christ through the use of approved texts and supplemental materials according to guidelines promulgated by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. The children participate in age appropriate activities and service.
Classes for public school children meet on Wednesday from 6:30 PM to 7:45 PM in the school. Our teachings and our catholic life center around the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Children are expected to attend either the Vigil Mass on Saturday evening or the Mass on Sunday each week.
Children must attend religious education classes and meet readiness requirements before reception of First Reconciliation, First Communion and Confirmation. For most of our children, preparation for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion occurs in Level 2. Students in Levels 6 and 7 are prepared for the reception of Confirmation, which is celebrated every two years at our parish. Confirmation is a Sacrament of Initiation and thus marks a new beginning for learning about our Faith. Our parent programs are to be a vital part of a child's preparation for the reception of the Sacraments.
We are blessed with a dedicated and enthusiastic group of Catechists, office support staff and substitutes. As this is largely a volunteer effort, the support of parishioners is needed and greatly appreciated.
Efforts are currently underway to expand offerings to the adults of the parish.
